Working With Children (WWC) Blue Cards
Every B.H.B driver assigned to a school or youth group booking holds a current Queensland Blue Card — the Working With Children clearance issued by Blue Card Services. WWC clearances are checked and renewed as required. Schools can request written confirmation of the assigned driver's Blue Card number at the time of booking.
Queensland Transport Passenger Operator Accreditation
Brisbane Hire Bus holds Passenger Transport Operator accreditation under the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act 1994 (Qld). This is the legal requirement for any operator providing commercial passenger charter services in Queensland. All vehicles in the B.H.B fleet are registered and inspected to Queensland Transport standards.
Heavy Vehicle Driver Licences
All Brisbane Hire Bus drivers hold current Queensland heavy vehicle licences appropriate to the class of vehicle they operate — MR (Medium Rigid), HR (Heavy Rigid), or HC (Heavy Combination). Pre-Trip Vehicle Safety Inspections
Before every departure, B.H.B drivers complete a pre-trip inspection checklist covering brakes, tyres, seatbelts, lights, mirrors, fluid levels, and mechanical condition. No vehicle departs the depot with a safety defect. Inspection records are maintained for every vehicle and every trip.
Driver Fatigue Management
All Brisbane Hire Bus drivers operate within Queensland and National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) fatigue management standards. Driver hours are monitored and managed to ensure every driver is rested, alert, and safe for the full duration of your charter. Long-distance and overnight charters include appropriate rest scheduling.

From a Charter Operator
Schools have specific obligations when booking external transport. The PCYC, Queensland Department of Education, and Catholic Education Office all require that charter operators used for school excursions meet minimum safety and accreditation standards.

Maintenance & Inspection Schedule
Every vehicle in the B.H.B fleet follows a structured maintenance program. Here's what happens before your trip even begins.
Pre-Trip Inspection — Before Every Departure
Driver completes a full pre-trip checklist covering brakes, tyres (pressure and condition), seatbelts (all passenger seats), headlights, indicators, mirrors, wiper blades, fluid levels, and body condition. Any defect found before departure grounds the vehicle until rectified.
Scheduled Mechanical Maintenance
All vehicles follow manufacturer-specified service intervals maintained by qualified diesel mechanics. Service records are kept for every vehicle. B.H.B does not defer scheduled maintenance — if a vehicle is due for service, it is serviced before its next booking.
Queensland Transport Annual Inspection
All vehicles undergo annual Queensland Transport roadworthiness inspections as required for commercial passenger vehicles. Only vehicles with current inspection certificates are dispatched for charters.
Seatbelt Compliance
Every passenger seat in every B.H.B vehicle is fitted with a compliant seatbelt. Seatbelt condition and operation is checked during pre-trip inspections. Passenger count never exceeds the number of operational seatbelts — this is non-negotiable on every booking, and particularly on school charters.
Emergency Equipment
All vehicles carry first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency triangles maintained to current standards. Drivers are briefed on emergency procedures including evacuation protocols relevant to the vehicle class.
Vehicle Cleanliness Standards
All vehicles are professionally cleaned between bookings. Interior air-conditioning filters are serviced regularly. For school and medical bookings, additional sanitisation is applied to all contact surfaces before departure.
